April 18-25 2015 is National Infant Immunization Week

This week promotes the importance of protecting people, specifically infants from vaccine-preventable illnesses. Plus this week celebrates the successes of immunization programs and the program's partners.

Interesting Facts:

  • There are 14 vaccine-preventable illnesses that can be prevented in infants and children 2 years old and younger.

  • Many children in the 1950's developed measles. Today, many physicians have never seen the measles in people.

  • NIIW is part of the World Immunization Week, an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO)

There is a program, Vaccines for children's, a federally funded program that provides free vaccinations to children whose parents cannot afford them. Call 800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636) to locate facilities that provide this service.
