April 18-25 2015 is National Infant Immunization Week
This week promotes the importance of protecting people, specifically infants from vaccine-preventable illnesses. Plus this week celebrates the successes of immunization programs and the program's partners.
Interesting Facts:
There are 14 vaccine-preventable illnesses that can be prevented in infants and children 2 years old and younger.
Many children in the 1950's developed measles. Today, many physicians have never seen the measles in people.
NIIW is part of the World Immunization Week, an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO)
There is a program, Vaccines for children's, a federally funded program that provides free vaccinations to children whose parents cannot afford them. Call 800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636) to locate facilities that provide this service.
