August is Immunization Month!
Hello August 2022
This month there are two topics I want to highlight.
The first (and the topic of my first book) is immunizations. August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). Vaccines (or immunizations) typically contain a live, weakened virus/bacteria, or a dead virus/bacteria or part of a virus/bacteria. The created vaccine is given to the patient. The body mounts a defense against the invading organism. Unique cells then remember the invading organism. If that organism re-enters the body, the cells alert the body, and the body unleashes another defense. The second response is usually quicker than the first response. Currently there are over 20 vaccine -preventable disease. For more information please visit:

Also, soon I will post my book, “Vaccination Fascination” on my website.
The second topic to highlight is National Breastfeeding Month. I like that these two topics share the same month since a mother’s milk can pass along antibodies in her milk to her child.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that infants be breast fed for the first 6 months of life if possible. Please visit:

World Breast Feeding Week is August 1-7 annually.
This week was started in 1992 to bring awareness to and support for breastfeeding worldwide.
As usual, I did not go into great depth about either topic. I just want you to be aware of these topics.
Enjoy your August!!
