Skin Cancer Awareness
On May 11 2015 I posted a blog, "Who's got your back?"
The blog was about Skin Cancer awareness.
I hope you were able to read more about skin cancer and more importantly how to minimize your risk of getting skin cancer.
We are enjoying summer (in the northern hemisphere) so I thought I would revisit this important topic.
There are many resources online so there is no need to reiterate what the NIH (National Institute of Health) or the American Academy of Dermatology has already written. However, just a reminder of the importance of protection and self inspection is the purpose of this blog.
The ABCDEs melanoma Detection
A if for Asymmetry-one half does not look like the other half.
B is for Border-irregular, scalloped or poorly defined borders
C is color Color-varied colors, shades of tan, brown or black.
D is for Diameter-Melanomas are often the size of an eraser or smaller
E is for evolving-a mole or skin growth that looks different from the rest or is changing in appearance.
Thanks to the American Academy of Dermatology for these helpful hints to detecting skin cancer.
