Healthy Skin Month 2015
You guessed it, November is not only a month that brings awareness to Diabetes and Lung cancer but November is also a time to remember to maintain healthy skin.
Protecting yourself from the sun is very important to maintaining healthy skin. The sun emits UV (or ultra violet light) This light, UVA and UVB can not be seen but you can see the effects of this light via sun burn and sun tans.
You can decrease your chances of sun damage with a couple of easy ideas.
First find SHADE. The use of an umbrella, shelter or the shade of a tree can help decrease your sun exposure.
CLOTHING- wear long sleeve shirts, long pants and skirts to protect your skin from UV light.
HATS-Hats protect the face, ears and neck from the damaging sun's rays. A wide brimmed hat is the best choice. Plus hats made with tightly woven fabric are better than hats with loosely woven material such as straw hats.
SUNGLASSES -sun glasses can help reduce the risk cataracts in the eyes and can protect the skin around the eyes.
SUNSCREENS- Sunscreens should be used before you go outside. Use at least 30 SPF (Sun protection factor) 30 minutes before you go outside.
I went to the CDC (Center of Disease Control and prevention) for my facts.
