World AIDS Day

December 1 2015

December 1 is the annual World's AIDS Day.

The UN (United Nations) World AIDS Day honors AIDS victims and focuses on issues surrounding HIV and AIDS.

HIV is human immunodeficiency virus.

AIDS-Acquired immune deficiency syndrome

AIDS was first identified in 1981 and the name "AIDS" was introduced in July 1982.

AIDS is a condition resulting from damage done by HIV to the immune system.

HIV can only be spread between people through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the blood stream with a bodily fluid.

An estimated 33 million people worldwide have HIV and AIDS. Roughly 2 million people annually die from AIDS related conditions.

Red ribbon- a red ribbon is the most widely recognized symbol of HIV and AIDS and the people who live with this condition.
