This post has nothing to do with Ground Hog Day. However, it is a "Day". One day to observe an event, will the ground hog see it's shadow? Scientific it is not but nonetheless an interesting idea.

The first part of February has several "Days" that we can observe a particular healthcare topic.

For instance:

Feb 4 is Word Cancer Day.

Feb 5 is Wear Red Day (American Heart Association)

Feb 6 is Give Kids a Smile Day

Feb 14 is Donor Day

The theme for World Cancer Day We can. I can.

This is a 3 year campaign for reach and impact. As the theme suggests we can work together or as individuals to help decrease the global burden of cancer. There are several key messages.

We Can- Inspire action, take action. Prevent cancer. Challenge perceptions. Create healthy environments. Improve access to cancer care.

I can: support others. Love, and be loved. Return to work. Share my story. Make healthy lifestyle choices.

Give Kids a Smile Day 2016 (GKAS 2016)

This program started in 2003. The past 13 years more than 5 million underserved children have received free oral health services. There are about 10,000 dentist and 30,000 other dental team members that support GKAS.
