May is National Arthritis Awareness Month
Each year May is recognized as National Arthritis Month.
Arthritis is usually recognized as an adult disease but kids can have arthritis too.
There are just under a half a million babies, children and teens with arthritis.
The vast majority of Arthritis suffers are adults, though.
There are approximately 53 million adults with arthritis.
Unfortunately, arthritis is the U.S. biggest cause of disability.
There are two major forms of arthritis: osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Arthritis causes about one million hospitalizations each year.
More than 50% of adults with arthritis have heart disease and /or diabetes.
Just less then 50% of adults with arthritis have high blood pressure and/or are obese.
To help raise awareness and/or get involved there are several physical activities you can participate in:
Walk to Cure Arthritis
Jingle Bell Run
Bike Events
