National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month
Did you know that 1 in every 5 (or about 17%) children in the U.S is obese?
Obesity is a very big public health concern.
Children who are obese have a greater risk at being obese adults than those children who are not obese.
Children who are obese face social challenges growing up such as being bullied.
Children who are obese are influenced by several factors such as: sedentary activities, too little sleep, access to high caloric foods and drinks, lack of access to healthier food.
Ways to help fight obesity
Adequate sleep
Limit TV time
Physical activity
Parents serve more fruits and veggies
Drink water not sugary drinks
The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) has a web page that talks about income levels and obesity rates. Please click on https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/childhood.html
The CDC also has a page about "Defining Childhood Obesity"

Obese children and adults is a very real and big concern. Studies have linked weight (over weight) to diabetes, heart conditions and even cancer.
Losing weight is not an overnight occurrence. There is no magic pill, no fad diets and no fad exercising that will cause you to lose weight AND keep the weight off. Limiting caloric intake with physical activity are the tried and true ways to lose weight.
As always thank your for your support.
