Serving Up Bone Strength
This is an annual event focused on issues including arthritis, back pain, osteoporosis and trauma. This week is designed to raise awareness of prevention, disease management and treatment.
A few facts:
54% of people 18 years old and over are affected by bone and joint conditions.
The most common cause of long term pain is bone and joint issues.
Joint and bone pain is the most common reason for physical disability.
Research funding for joint and bone issues is less than 2% of the National Institutes of Health annual budget.
