Say good bye to January!
Did you know that last week (Jan 23-29, 2017) was the National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week? The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) help bring this topic to the forefront.
The NIDA--the National Institute on Drug Abuse--- is part of the National Institutes of Health which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A good website to visit is www.drugabuse.gov.
The theme this year was Shatter the Myth about substance use and addiction.
There is a short video that you can watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NZ2RW6n0pg
The NIDA is starting an on-line resource for teachers about drug abuse. This is located at https://teens.drugabuse.gov/teachers
Do you want to test you Drug and Alcohol knowledge? If yes, go to
https://teens.drugabuse.gov/teacher (yes it is the same website as above)!!
No one really likes to talk about drug abuse. Drug abuse can happen to anyone. So it is important to talk freely about this topic. Certainly don’t limit yourself to learning more about drug abuse. It is a serious problem, unfortunately.
