School Breakfast Awareness 2017
March 6-March 10 2017
This awareness week was started in 1989 to promote awareness of school breakfast programs and the importance of school meal programs.
Schools throughout the country are encouraging all students to, “Take the School Breakfast Challenge”. Students are encouraged to eat from a variety of healthy breakfast options to start their day. There are over 90,000 schools participating in the program.
Research has shown that breakfast is an important meal, if not the most important, meal of the day. So what better way to encourage kids to eat breakfast than at school with their friends if there is no time to eat at home with your family.
Parents are an important part in this campaign. The School Nutrition Association is hosting a School Breakfast Week giveaway contest on www.Facebook.com/TrayTalk. Also you can visit Tray Talk at TrayTalk.org.
And speaking about food…….This week awareness is also a good lead in to one of my books about Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is an illness where gluten bothers the small intestines and leads to incomplete digestion of food. I will be posting exerts of the book on my Kid’s Page on my website.
