Skin Cancer Awareness

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancers. The good news is that you can decrease your risk for skin cancer.

There are a few pretty simple steps you can take.

1. Stay out of the sun as much as you can especially between 10 am and 4 pm.

2. Use a sunscreen lotion that offers a SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher.

3. When possible cover up as much as possible with long sleeves and a wide brim hat.

4. Check your skin regularly for changes.

The American Academy of Dermatology has a program, “Spot Skin Cancer” campaign. “Check your partner, check yourself” See their website https://www.aad.org/public/spot-skin-cancer/programs/skin-cancer-awareness-month

As you know I have written a book for children on the use of sunscreens. The book is written and has from time to time been available online to read.

Here are a few lines from the book

“Swimming and biking outside are fun

But danger lurks while in the sun.

We cannot see it there is harmful light

That comes from the sun that is strong and bright.......

Some stuff is made from cells in our skin

The stuff that is made is called melanin (mel-a-nin)........

The names of the light

UV “A” and “B”

Look all you want but you cannot see.

The letters UV means ultraviolet

UV for short let us not forget......”

This book should be available by mid-summer 2017!!

My vaccine book is still available to read online. Go to my main page and find the tab that says "Read Story Here"

As always thank you for your support!!!

This book should be available by mid-summer 2017.
