ow many servings of fruits do you or your child(ren) eat each day?

How about vegetables?

Most adults and children are not eating enough fruits and veggies. But how much is suggested? If you go to https://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2000/document/build.htm you will find a chart that shows the suggested amounts depending on your age.

If you haven’t already guessed, fruits and veggies are highlighted this month. September is

Fruit and Veggies-More Matter Month

Who knew such a month existed!?

Another great website for learning about fruits and veggies is https://fruitsandveggies.org/

This site list fruits and veggies alphabetically. Once you land on the website select the “Fruit & Veggies” tab. Then search for a fruit or veggie and you will learn how to select, store and the nutritional content.

I have heard that it is better to change one food habit at a time instead of making a lot of changes in your diet at once. So why not buy one additional fruit or veggie this week. Add it to your diet for a week or two then repeat. See what happens….

Happy eating.

Karen
